Atlanta Matayoshi Kobudo Seminar

Barbara and I went to Atlanta to for a week long seminar with Itokazu
Sensei.
5 days straight of basics and katas. We were tired out by the end, but
we learned a ton. Most people there were from Dan Smith's dojo - it was
fun to train with that many people. And as you can tell from the
picture, we didn't suffer from lack of space! ;-)

2004 Okinawa Trip
I got the opportunity to go to Okinawa for several days in December of
2004
Sensei was very generous with his time, giving me 1:1 instruction and
encouragement to train as much as I could - would be great to actually
live there and be able to study like that all the time.

2005 Okinawa Trip

Barbara and I headed to Okinawa in March of 2005 for several days of
training.
This is the view from the street of the back of the dojo/Matayoshi
residence.
We found ourselves training once again with the folks from Dan Smith's
dojo as they happened to be in town at the same time. We learned to be
more conservative with our space and it was amazing how many people
could have great training in such a relatively small space.
We got a picture with Sensei on our last day there.
2006 Boulder
Matayoshi
Kobudo Seminar
In March of 2006 we Boulder Kodokan hosted its first Matayoshi Kobudo
seminar. For three days two black belts from the Mataysohi Dojo
instructed members of Boulder Kodokan and friends from other dojos in
the Denver area.

The seminar was a great time to meet new friends and get back together
with old acquaintances
.
Training focused on bo and sai.
We even got a little site-seeing in and took advantage of some
early-spring sunshine.
2007 Boulder
Matayoshi Kobudo Seminar
In May of 2007 Itokazu Sensei visited Boulder for his first Kobudo
Seminar here.
We had great weather during his visit - we were glad that we weren't
visited by a late spring snow-storm!
People from a number of different dojos, and states for that matter,
got together to train.
It was great to have Sensei with us for a week, running the seminar and
providing instruction at the dojo.
2007 Boulder
Kodokan Martialarts-athon for UNICEF

In October we held our First Annual Martialarts-athon for UNICEF
Training started at 7am - amazing the we were smiling at that time on a
Saturday morning!
Training included Matayoshi Kobudo...
...and Goju-ryu Karate training. We were joined by other local dojos as
well and altogether raised over $3000 for a great cause.
